Sometimes in life you need a giant monster story. I mean, I know I do. Giant monsters are cool. They're fun and can be very exciting. T.I.M. (Tyrannosaur, Improved Model) is, well, he's what it says on the tin. And that's the entire point.

Is this book deep? Nope, not really. It isn't meant to be overly deep. It has a point and a s.... read review

I've enjoyed Morgan Howell's "Queen of the Orcs" series so far, despite some pedestrian prose and some really slow parts. His society-building (I can't really say "world" building because he doesn't really show us much of this world) is top notch, but it too often felt like a travelogue. With the final book in the series, Royal Destiny, Ho.... read review

Dissatisfaction with a book and the time wasted reading it usually doesn't manifest in a physical way. On the other hand, sometimes it does. In this case, reading Cloud Cuckoo Land only made me think of pulling my hair out, engaging in fits, tics and tremors or possibly organizing a public book burning, because actually doing any of those .... read review

I am very glad I finally got to read this book. I'm extremely happy that this is not my first contact with Malaz and the Book of the Fallen, however. Ian Cameron Esslemont (ICE) may have helped create the terrifically complex world, races, deities, magics, and histories of The Malazan Books of the Fallen but he most definitely is not Steven Erikson.... read review

Book 2 of the "Looking Glass Wars," Seeing Redd, picks up after Alyss has beat her Aunt Redd and she had jumped into the Heart Crystal with Cat on her heels. Alyss is slowly finding out that being Queen is not all it's cracked up to be, especially when her feelings for Dodge cloud her judgment. And not everyone likes peace; some neighbors pr.... read review
