Escapology, by Ren Warom

Book Review by Michael D. Griffiths

Have you read this book?

Escapology by, Ren Waron is amazing. I know I sound repetitive sometimes when it comes to Titan Books, but they are just one explosion of brilliance after another. Waron's writing style is beyond compare. She paints a vibrate world that both compels you and wants you to flee screaming. Her prose are colorful and yet dark. The characters are strong and move together to interact in a world of malice and cynicism

Numerous people and several points of view are used to move this impossible story through a world of cyberpunks and crime warlords. Friends are hard to find and most do not have any in this high tech world of limited resources, which stays controlled by the untouchable elite, the criminal overlords, and the world of Slip, Slip is an oceanic cyberpunk realm where using an Avi one can enter the Slip and move through the underwater cyber-web.

Shock is a cyberpunk and perhaps the best there is, but his internal turmoil and drug addiction leave him struggling for crumbs dished out by those who only seek to use him. Through a complex serious of events with multiple parties strive for different goals, Shock does the impossible and downloads the core of the Slip, called Emblem and takes is with him out of the Slip.

The second half of the book become one huge climax as dozens of forces both good, ill, and cyber, try to hunt down this dysfunctional anti-hero Shock Pao. Allies and enemies shift and danger smashes in from every side. Some seriously intense things occur, but I do not want to ruin any surprises, because you should read this book.

Again I have to say Waron's creativity and use of  descriptions here is far above par. Each paragraph is well crafted and a delight for the imagination. Her characters glow with life. Very well done here.

I can not see to many drawbacks here if you like cyberpunk or science fiction, or hell, if you have not read much, start with this one. Sometimes I did get a little lost with some of the high tech explanations and a few scenes I was not exactly sure what had happened, but I would read on and figure it out. Any minuses, were more than made up for by her fantastic writing style.

This is a good order it now book. 5 Stars for sure. Thanks for giving me the prefect book to read as I set off for my Wilderness Punk experiment. Every once in a while a guy gets lucky
