The action usually starts mid-May as the summer block buster season finally gets rolling. However, with the January release of Underworld: Blood Wars<\/a> and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, the movie studies seem determined to kick it off early this year. The title is self explanatory and Resident Evil: The final Chapter is the final (and 6th) installment in the franchise. In comparison to other video game adaptations, it has done fairly well.<\/p>\n

The Final Chapter starts with Alice waking up in Raccoon City. The city lies in desolate after the outbreak of the T-1 virus, which was created by Dr. Alexander Isaacs. Alexander’s daughter, Alice, had been suffering from premature ageing and it was in his search for a cure that he caused the first outbreak.<\/p>\n

When Alice wakes up she finds that the artificial intelligence known as The Red Queen has a message for her. There’s a way to stop the outbreak. Inside the Hive, the vault where the T-1 virus was made, is its cure. Alice has 48 hours to get it before the last strongholds of mankind are wiped out. The Red Queen promises Alice a further explanation for helping her once she gets to the Hive.<\/p>\n

Attempting to commandeer an Umbrella Corporation motorbike, Alice ends up the victim of a trap, and soon finds herself in an armored vehicle, prisoner of the Umbrella Corporation’s CEO, Marcus (Iain Glen). The 48 hours she has to make it to the Hive to save the human race are rapidly running out.<\/p>\n

When it comes to action, The final Chapter delivers like a seasoned mailman. There’s not a dull moment, with Alice kicking ass and taking names from beginning to end. . The CGI is well done–sure to please the video game fans.<\/p>\n

The plot, however, was a bit of a disappointment. It felt cobbled together as an excuse to blow, shoot, and slash things up. It’s hard to believe that everything takes place in the deadline set. However, it is still one of the best in the franchise so far.<\/p>\n

Milla Johovich made sure Kate Beckinsale doesn’t get to rule this year as the queen of butt-kicking. Iain Glen also does great work as usual with his performance as Alexander Isaacs.<\/p>\n

Overall I recommend it, especially to fans of the series. Even if you haven’t seen the the rest, this one stands well enough on it’s own as a zombie Apocalypse movie.<\/p>\n
