The ending clearly shows the author's moral and didactic purpose. It's worth reading, but will not win any prizes. But, do the good guys really not know what's gotten into Tomas? Can you say, Sequel? A little more polish and a sequel would not be unwelcome.
The proofreader needs a short course in the use of commas and apostrophes. On page 56, for instance, An evil grin spread across Brandan face.
Brandan's face, maybe? There are also occasional exercises in the perils of spell checkers: where in place of were, or laying in place of lying.
It comes with a map, and the places in the story are actually on it! It's a little unclear sometimes whether we are in Crato or Mahorg, or whether it matters.
At least the badgize don't chant, Sidra Mah! Sidra Mah! (Darn it, wrong story again!)
